Roberta Elise Gieger was born September 2, 1935 to Robert H. and Henrietta Schaefer Mann in Jeffersonville.
She was a 73 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and on the Memorial Committee.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Joseph F. Gieger, by two sons James Gieger and John Gieger both of Jeffersonville; a daughter Joy Gorr of Livingston Manor; three grandchildren: Samantha Fitch, Erin Gorr, And Derek Gieger; by her thirteen great-grandchildren: Tanner, Alexis, Hannah, Hailey, Hunter, Isabella, T.J., Bailey, Hope-Lynn, Veronica, Easton, Levi and Piper. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Vilma Goetting.
A family statement reads: Anyone whoever met Birdie knew she was the sweetest kindest soul they could ever encounter. She lived her life in true Christian service. The light of her immense capacity for love radiated from her. No one had a more amazing mother than we did. She was a shining example for us all. An amazing cook, baker and gardener, she shared her talents generously. Everyone was welcomed at her table. Her tea parties were famous. Heaven has gained a special Angel!
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at The First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville on Main Street in Jeffersonville. The Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon at the church. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville.
