Robin Ann Slater of Grahamsville passed away on August 27. She was 72.

She was the daughter of the late John and Patricia Bennett Marshalek, born on September 3, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas.

She attended and graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. After graduation she moved to the west coast for a brief period and afterwards returned to New York. Robin had an intense love for animals that resulted in her close friends referring to her as the “Animal Whisperer.” For many years she worked at Sullivan County Social Services as a caseworker. She later began working at the Grahamsville Library and retired from Ellenville Library. She was an avid reader and loved archery, often placed in the top 3 at any competition she entered. She could also be found kayaking whenever she had the opportunity.

Robin is survived by her devoted husband Gary Slater, her sisters Deb (Jim) Rasmussen, of Acworth, Georgia, Susan Marshalek of Madisonville, Louisiana, Cindy (Carlo) Ferraiolo of Accord, New York and her stepmother Barbara Marshalek of Acworth, Georgia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit which will live within us for all time.
