Rockland moves forward with Twin Village acquisition

ROCKLAND — The Rockland Town Board resolved to move forward with the acquisition of the Twin Village Golf Course, a 9-hole course nestled on Rockland Road in Roscoe.

The golf course was offered as a donation to the Town of Rockland, and as part of the resolution made on March 7, the board moved to pay $22,000 for golf carts and other equipment on the course.

The process included reading through an Environmental Assessment Form and a roll call vote.

The Town Board is planning to host a meeting at 7 p.m. on March 20 at the Community Center in Roscoe to discuss the future of the golf course with the community.

“I’m excited that we’re taking over the golf course,” said Town of Rockland board member Christine Routledge.

Aside from the acquisition, the board resolved and scheduled a public hearing for Local Law No. 1 of 2024. The local law is focused on a water service amendment, changing a fine for water service connections to a fee. The public hearing will take place at 7:05 during the Town’s next board meeting on March 21.

Two resolutions were made regarding the Rail Trail in Livingston Manor, one to finalize an agreement with the HVEA Engineers and a resolution with the county for an Investment Management Agreement (IMA).

After the rail trail resolutions, the board moved on to make a resolution to support Trout Unlimited (TU). Supervisor Rob Eggleton read a letter of support for TU and the resolution was made to submit the letter. TU is looking to do flood mitigation work in the Town of Rockland.

Antrim Streamside, a wedding venue in the Town of Rockland, sent in a letter asking about a noise ordinance and informing the board of reserved events. The board resolved to give them a variance until 11 p.m. for their events.

The meeting then went into executive session for a personnel issue, and the meeting adjourned shortly after.
