LIVINGSTON MANOR – Rockland Central School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Evans announced his retirement at the October 7 meeting of the Board of Education. His last day with the district will be November 30.
Evans’s career in education has spanned over 30 years, serving as a coach, teacher and administrator. He has been a superintendent for 15 years, having previously led the Roscoe, Livingston Manor and Downsville school districts. Leading all three districts simultaneously from January 2017 through June 2022, Evans served as the first three-way shared superintendent in New York state.
The board of education will work with Dr. Robert Dufour, Sullivan BOCES District Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer, to select and appoint an interim superintendent by December 1.
Details about the transition in leadership and the search for a new permanent superintendent will be provided by the school district as more information becomes available.
