ROSCOE – The Roscoe O&W Railway Museum is pleased to announce that community beautification projects are currently underway with support from a Sullivan 180 Beautification Program Grant.
The grant will help improve two highly visible public spaces in Roscoe. At the museum, a new Historical Marker Garden will become the permanent home of Roscoe’s Borscht Belt Historical Marker. At Railway Park, improvements will enhance the garden area surrounding the museum’s historic New York, Ontario & Western Railway caboose and trout car display. Together, these projects will create more welcoming spaces for residents, visitors, volunteers, and families while celebrating Roscoe’s railroad and resort history.
The Borscht Belt Historical Marker recognizes Roscoe’s role in Sullivan County’s famed resort era and honors the families, businesses, and visitors who helped shape the region’s cultural and economic history.
A public dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 4:00 p.m. at the Roscoe O&W Railway Museum.
From 5:00 – 6:30 PM: “Greetings from Roscoe” at Roscoe Collective, 57 Stewart Avenue, Roscoe.
Join the Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project for their 17th marker unveiling in Roscoe, perched on the northern edge of the Borscht Belt. Once a key hub for rail travel, rivers, and mountain life, Roscoe continues to serve as both a gateway and a gathering place for visitors and locals alike.
“This project represents the best of what community partnerships can accomplish,” said Karil Davidson, President of the Roscoe O&W Railway Museum. “The gardens will beautify our community. preserve local history, and create inviting spaces where residents and visitors can learn about Roscoe’s unique past.”
