On Sunday, May 21, Sullivan County Long Beards Chapter President Earl “Butch” Kortright attended the 40th anniversary of the NYS Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The event was held at Theodore’s Restaurant in Canastota, NY. Butch was there to receive the distinguished honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023.

Butch was recognized for being a tireless volunteer for the youth of Sullivan County, serving the National Wild Turkey Federation and its youth through the “JAKES” (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) program. He was also acknowledged for his work with the Veterans, Boy Scouts, schools etc., with programs from local hunts, youth events and personally providing hundreds of Blue Bird house kits annually.

During the ceremonies, Butch took the time to thank everyone who made the honor possible, recognizing each of his support group in attendance with a short synopsis of historical heritage significance.
