WILMINGTON –– Seven county skiers competed in NYSPHSAA Alpine Skiing State Championships at Whiteface Moiuntain on Monday, February 26.
Alexis Heins represented Monticello for the girls, while Sam Rein (Monti), Diego Ferrer (Monti), Reese Kelly (Monti), Andrew Weiner (Monti), Hudson Danzilo (FLTV) and Anthony Mastropietro (SW) were the boys to compete.
The best finish for any county skier was Heins, the defending state champion in the Slalom. Although she was a DNF in run one for Slalom, Heins placed eighth in the Giant Slalom with times of 59.99 and 57.04 for an overall time of 1:57.03.
Mastropietro was the top finisher for the boys as he placed 18th in the Giant Slalom with times of 1:02.63 and 54.73 for an overall time of 11:57.36.
Fallsburg/Liberty/Tri-Valley skier Danzilo was top forty as he finished 36th with an overall time of 2:08.50. Danzilo was top 30 in the Slalom as he finished 23rd with an overall time of 2:14.81.
Kelly, Weiner and Ferrer did not finish (DNF) their first runs of the Giant Slalom, while Rein was a DNF for run number two. Ferrer finished 27th in the Slalom with a time of 2:21.61.
