Stanley R. Cohen of Liberty, NY passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in The Villages, FL surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old. The son of the late Irving and Miriam Rabinowitz, Stanley was born November 10, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY.
While growing up and on the advice of his parents, Stanley went to the New York School of Printing where he learned this trade. He relocated his family to Liberty, NY. Once in Liberty, he worked as a printer at Grossinger’s Hotel until it closed. Following his passion, he started his own business, BRD Printing in Liberty, which he successfully retired from after 34 years. After retirement, he worked for the New York State Corrections where he was employed as a Motor Vehicle Operator at Sullivan Correctional Facility for five years.
Stanley was a volunteer driver for the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 20 years. He was a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge 1545 and the I.O.O.B 583. He was passionate about playing golf and traveling with the love of his life and soulmate Katherine.
Stanley had quite the sense of humor. He loved to catch people off guard when he would speak in his own jargon looking at you for a reaction and would call his overnight guests “freeloaders” asking others “how to get rid of them”.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 28 years, Katherine A Cohen, his children, Brett Cohen (Jeannine) of Liberty, Robyn Walsh (Richard) of Liberty and Denise Curry (Gerald) of Neversink. Five grandchildren, Gregory, Laurenne, Brittany, Ashlie and John, two great-grandchildren, Blake and Tucker, a brother, Steven Cohen (Lucy) of Oceanside, NY and Gayle Beller of Boynton Beach, FL, several nieces, nephews and his princess, Lola Girl, who he adored beyond words.
Stanley is predeceased by his first wife Marlene Sher, his brother Ronald Cohen and his brother-in-law Harold Beller.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Ferndale Synagogue Cemetery, Lilly Pond Road, Parksville, NY.
Arrangements are honorably entrusted to the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home - 845-794-7474 or www.josephngarlickfuneralhome.com.
