WARWICK –– Many teams from the Sullivan County area traveled to Warwick on Saturday, October 26 to compete in the OCIAA Cross Country Championships against schools from Orange and Ulster counties. The weather was a cool breezy 57-degree day at Sanfordville Elementary School. The race schedule for the day included boys varsity, followed by the girls varsity, boys junior varsity, and girls junior varsity.
Tri-Valley’s Van Furman would repeat as champion this year clocking the fastest time ever run on this course at 14:59. Anna Furman finished second on the course with an individual time of 17:41.20.
Eduardo Salinas of Monticello would finish just outside the top 10 with a score of 16:30.30 and teammate Diya Patel finished with a time of 20:18.10, in the top 20 women’s finishers.
Both Tri-Valley teams finished in the top 10. The men’s squad finished in 10th with a score of a 248 and their women’s team finished in 8th place with a score of 221.
The men’s teams from Monticello, Sullivan West and Fallsburg would all finish in the top 20, with scores of 366, 524 and 530 respectively. Fallsburg’s women’s team would also finish in the top 20 with 375 points.
