Sullivan County DPW keeps county’s Main Streets looking great

SULLIVAN COUNTY – Their work day starts before most Sullivan County residents are out of bed.

At 5 a.m. the Sullivan County DPW’s Road Sweeping Crew can be seen around Sullivan County – giving Main Streets and other main thoroughfares a good Spring cleaning after months of salt, sand and wear from Mother Nature.

“We start our day at 5 a.m., it’s easier to work when the streets are quiet,” Rob Drobysh said. “We have a lot of areas on our list – Mileses, Fremont, North Branch, Jeff and Youngsville. We already did Manor.”

Equipped with a water truck, two kick brooms, a pick up broom and a dump truck, the six-man crew goes up and down the streets until all the debris is removed.

Then they even haul it away.

On Wednesday, the crew was in Callicoon, working to make sure the hamlet looked its best for its many visitors.
