Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop presents Blithe Spirit

FALLSBURG — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop is thrilled to revive Noel Coward’s comic play, “Blithe Spirit” – the very first play performed by the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop in 1950! The author described this play as “an improbable farce in three acts.” The play concerns the socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant Madame Arcati to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when, after the séance, he is haunted by the ghost of his willful and temperamental first wife, Elvira.  What follows is highly amusing!

Director Albert Santiago is excited to have his directorial debut with this classic. Mekayla Rayne is Producer with Dawn Perneszi as Stage Manager/Tech. Samantha Berry is the Costumer. The extremely talented cast includes Mako San, Alexandra Recknagel, Stalina Huberchenko, Jean Eifert, Nickoloz Backra, Samantha Berry and Mariah Kravitz.

Performances of “Blithe Spirit” are on Fridays & Saturdays, May 10, 11, 17, & 18, at 8:00pm and Sunday, May  19 at 2:00pm at the Rivoli Theatre, Main Street, South Fallsburg.  General admission is $15; for Seniors, Students, Vets $12. www.scdw.net.

The New York Times review said, “Blithe spirit “ “can still keep an audience in a state of tickled contentment.”
