Sullivan Generals suffer another big loss to Herkimer

LOCH SHELDRAKE- Last Wednesday evening the Sullivan Generals men’s team hosted the Herkimer Generals at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.  In an evening that was slated to be a doubleheader, it would be just the men’s team at play as the women’s game was postponed to a later date.

The Sullivan Generals are struggling this year to get into an offensive flow. They hold a record of 2-11 overall and 1-3 in the conference with both wins coming back-to-back in December against Ulster and LaGuardia Community Colleges.  The Sullivan Generals won both games by a close margin of six points.

This game was a tough matchup against the #4 Herkimer Generals. The two teams met a few weeks ago on Herkimer’s home court to a similar outcome with the Sullivan Generals losing by double digits in that matchup.

Over half of the Sullivan Generals men’s team comprises some standout local talent. Including brothers Christian and Judah Brown, Monticello graduates, Jeremy Simon of Liberty and Mateo Scanna of Fallsburg. Staten Island native Erik Jareki was the top scorer for the team with 22 and Christian Brown ended the night with 11. Xavier Cardona of Herkimer led his team in scoring with 19 and Kenny Freeman rounded out the night with 16.

The Sullivan Generals men’s team will meet the NJCAA #25 ranked SUNY Orange Colts, 17-3 overall, 4-0 conference on February 4 on the road and will be back at home on February 6 to host Rockland CC, 11-7 overall, 3-1 conference. The women’s team, 7-2 overall, 1-0 in conference play is off to a great start this year. They will join the men’s team at SUNY Orange, 3-14 overall, 0-1 conference on Feb 4 at 5 pm. They will be back at home to play against Monroe University 14-3 overall, 0-0 in conference play at 5 pm on February 6 at the Fieldhouse.
