Sullivan, Northeast shook by 4.8 earthquake

NORTHEAST  — Many Sullivan County residents asked a similar question on Friday morning: “Did you feel that?”

These questions are stemmed from a 4.8 magnitude earthquake which occured around 10:20 a.m. Friday near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS.gov.)

According to the USGS, the epicenter of the earthquake occurred along the Ramapo Fault, however, the tremors could be felt in Sullivan County in many locations, such as Woodbourne, Liberty, Bloomingburg and others to varying degrees.

County residents reported that they felt their house shaking, while others reported to not having felt a thing.
