Sullivan West honors fall sports athletes

  LAKE HUNTINGTON- The Sullivan West Bulldogs hosted their 2024 fall athletics award banquet marking the end of the fall season. The event brings families, coaches, and athletes together to celebrate the accomplishments of the season. Both JV and Varsity players in cheerleading, cross-country, football, soccer and volleyball were acknowledged. 

  The evening began with a welcome message from Principal, David Eggleton followed by an introduction of the evening given by Athletic Director, Kurt Buddenhagen. 

  Junior Varsity Coach Jenna Vairo, recognized the JV Volleyball team. Helene Chappell, Varsity Volleyball coach recognized the Varsity team and presented Madeline Kask with Offensive player of the Year and Sophie Wilkin received the Tru Grit Award this season. Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Linnea Schumacher and Assistant JV Soccer Coach Nicole Olsen recognized the JV Soccer team for their achievements. 

  For the Varsity Soccer team, Coach Megan Brockner and Assistant Coach Samantha Cummings presented the awards in recognition of the Varsity team. Karli Keesler received the Most Valuable Defensive Player and Grace Halloran was presented with the Miss. Soccer Award. 

  Varsity Boys Soccer Coach Kristina Verrico and Assistant Coach Alex Broz recognized their team and presented the Coaches Award to Landon Boyd and the Most Valuable Player Award to Charlie Kutschera.

  Dakota Saul also received the Coaches Award this year for Varsity Football Cheerleading. The award was presented by Head Coach Courtney Goldsmith. Lela Cordischi took home the Most Valuable Player Award for this fall season.

  Cross-Country Coach Sean Reuss recognized his athletes and presented three special awards this year. Bryce Bressler and Vee Cordischi both received Most Valuable Player Award this season while Cole Flynn was presented with the Most Improved Award. Varsity Football Coach Ron Bauer and Assistant Coaches Justin Diehl, Shane Cruz, Ronj Padu and Pete Johnston helped recognize the Varsity team.     

  This season Adam Ernst took home the Most Valuable Player Award and Evan Ebert received the Coaches Award. The Sullivan West Bulldogs football team won the Section IX 8-Man Championships for the second year in a row.
