Sullivan West to square off against Moravia tonight

WINDSOR — After two comeback playoff wins, the new Section 9 8-Man Champion Sullivan West Bulldogs will have another tough test ahead of them tonight. They are scheduled to face off against Moravia, the Section IV 8-Man Champion, in a regional playoff matchup this evening at 6 p.m. at Windsor High School.

The Moravia Blue Devils have had an incredible 2023 campaign, outscoring opponents 682 to 106 en route to an 11-0 record according to Max Preps. The team is averaging 62 points per game, and in their most recent contest, the Section IX Championship, defeated Charles O. Dickerson 74-41.

The Bulldogs, while successful in Section 9, have not yet seen a team with as much offensive firepower as Moravia, and their defense will have a tall task ahead of them.

Last weekend, the Bulldogs were able to hold Pawling to 20 points, after the Tigers had averaged more than 40 per gamae this season.

The two teams have shared just one common opponent this season, non-league games against Rondout Valley. Sullivan West won 20-6 against the Ganders, while Moravia defeated them 45-0.

While Sullivan West will have their hands full tonight, it should be a good opportunity for the Bulldogs to face off against the top-ranked 8-Man team in the state and compete for a regional championship.
