SOUTH FALLSBURG – Despite rainy skies and wet course conditions last Monday at Tarry Brae Golf Course, the Sullivan West and Tri-Valley girls golf teams battled through the weather with strong performances and positive attitudes. Sullivan West came away with the victory, finishing with a team score of 176 to Tri-Valley’s 213 on the par-38 course.
Sullivan West was led by Lila Kubenik’s match-low round of 52, while Skye Cruz fired a 58. Marissa Vannella contributed a 66 and Ella Herbert finished with a 75 to round out the Bulldogs’ scoring. Tri-Valley was paced by Cella Woods with a 68, followed closely by Deanna Bridges with a 72. Emily Poley carded a 73 and Keira Tri shot a 74 as the Bears continued to gain experience with a young lineup.
“It’s been a great season with a great group of kids,” Sullivan West coach Pat Donovan said. “We had a lot of newcomers this year, which is awesome. We also captured the Division 3 title and Lila Kubenik qualified for sectional play next Tuesday at Apple Greens. Overall it’s been a very successful season for us.”
Tri-Valley coach Jennifer Williams praised her team’s growth throughout the year as well.
“We’re a young team this year, and I’m incredibly proud of the girls’ effort and determination throughout the season,” Williams said. “Despite some challenging weather conditions, they continued to show resilience, supporting one another, and representing our school with a positive attitude.”
