e want to give our readers a heads up for this weekend as it’s sure to be a classic Catskills weekend. Long-time summer events are happening throughout the weekend, and we encourage everyone to attend one or all of them.
This Saturday the 41st annual Callicoon Country Fair will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., presented by the Callicoon Business Association. The fair celebrates the area’s local farms and agricultural heritage, as well as highlighting local artisans and musicians.
The hamlet will be alive with music, shopping, food and games spread across Lower Main Street, the Callicoon Depot and Callicoon Creek Park, including over 65 vendors.
And on Sunday the 35th annual Riverfest will be going on at Narrowsburg’s Main Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thirty-five years is certainly something to celebrate, and a testament to its popularity and resilience.
Produced by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the event includes artisan vendors, live music, a benefit poster auction, a hands-on Kids Crafting Corner, the beloved River Dogs (on) Parade, and regional street theater.
Narrowsburg is situated right along the Delaware River, and Riverfest celebrates the river’s ecology and natural beauty.
This weekend is also your chance to learn more about local history–during the Sullivan County Museum Weekend. Held on Saturday and Sunday, the event includes nine museums joining together to offer free admission for everyone to go out and explore the county’s long and rich history.
There will be special events, shop discounts, tours, prizes and more. Find the full list of participating museums on page 2A. And contact each museum directly for their hours and special offerings.
It’s sure to be a celebratory weekend for all ages. As all residents know, the summer can be our busiest season, and the influx of visitors adds to our sales and room tax, providing benefits for everyone.
So get out and enjoy–if you can find parking!
