The program includes: Glinka - Grand Sextet for Piano and string quartet and Dvorak - Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major Op. 81. Glinka composed this work while living in Milan in 1832. At this time, he was heavily influenced by opera, taking in the Italian style at La Scala as often as possible. This music is rich in melodic content and the joie de vivre of the sextet. The Glinka will be followed by the Dvorak Piano Quintet. This is one of the finest examples of Romantic chamber music in the repertoire though it took Dvorak many attempts before he was satisfied. He ignored it, and it remained unpublished, until a string of successes inspired him to return to the work. He worked from a score of his original quintet until he completely abandoned the first iteration of the work and started fresh.

The SCCO performers include: Akiko Hosoi – violin, Naho Parrini – Violin, Chiu-Chen Liu – Viola, TBD – Cello, Andrew Trombley – Bass and Ruo Ting Li – Piano.

SCCO is a Nesin Cultural Arts supported project. Programs are made possible in part by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathleen Courtney Hochul and the NY State Legislature, Episcopal Charities, Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, Laura Jane Musser Fund, Sullivan County Legislature, Sullivan County Youth Bureau, M&T Charitable Foundation, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, NY Life Foundation, Walmart Community Foundation and Stewart’s Shoppes.
