MONTICELLO – On Thursday, August 20, District 5 Legislator Cat Scott made a proclamation celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Growing Older Together (GOT), a volunteer-powered non-profit organization serving western Sullivan County and neighboring regions that helps seniors age in place.
“Growing Older Together,” said Scott, “has built a strong system of neighborly support, filling a crucial gap in services to our more vulnerable citizens.” She said that GOT has evolved over the past decade into a service organization composed of a core of over 140 volunteers that serves hundreds of older adults.
After thanking the Legislature for recognition of their 10-year milestone, GOT Executive Director Tommy Cambridge said, “Our mission is simple: to help older adults remain independent, connected, and engaged in the communities they call home and love. We do that through our network of volunteers providing practical, neighbor-to-neighbor support: transportation, chores, companionship, and opportunities for social connections and outings.”
To volunteer or learn more, call GOT at 570-630-0509 or visit their website at growingoldertogether.org.
