MONTICELLO — With the holiday break coming up and the weather starting to break as it does right before the ball season starts, we had a great multi team scrimmage at Monticello High School and Middle School to give a bunch of teams a look at areas to improve on as well as good points to build off.

Unfortunately, with the inclement weather conditions on the afternoon of the scrimmage, three of our own Sullivan County teams couldn’t participate with after school activities being canceled which included Liberty, Fallsburg and Tri-Valley, as well as Ellenville for the Ulster County side of the section.

In attendance we had Sullivan County’s own Monticello and Eldred, and they both took full advantage of the opportunity to play against the likes of Washingtonville, Port Jervis Our Lady of Lourdes, Chapel Field and Chester. The multi team scrimmage was organized by the BCANY committee to give Section IX teams a chance to get in some preseason work and prepare for a huge season ahead with a lot of teams moving around in the class brackets.

Both gyms were filled with energy with a lot of communication and passion from all schools presenting their teams for this year. Whether it was on the fast break getting downhill or players sprinting back from the opposite wing for a chase down block, all teams were firing on all cylinders and showing that this year is going to be one for the books.
