I enjoy hearing the Callicoon Center Band so much because it was started the year I was born. It consists of about forty instruments, including clarinets, trombones, saxophones, snare drum, and bass drum. At one time there was even a washboard player and a spoons player.
I’m so glad that the new owners of what was once Tumble Inn allow the band to use the original bandstand location. There is a banner across the back of the bandstand with my father’s name, Clarence Krantz, as the person who started it. When I attend, I just need to cross the brook from my house, and I’m there! The band plays Wednesday nights throughout the summer at 8pm.
