It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thomas J. Bowes, on July 15. Thomas was born on January 23, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, to the late Helen C. and Thomas R. Bowes.

He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Theresa. He is survived by his dear wife, Theresa; siblings, Patricia and Jay (Taffy); sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Michael) and Rosanne; brother-in-law, Thomas (Denise). Thomas is an uncle to fourteen nieces and nephews, eighteen great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece.

Thomas is predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Edward and John, and great-nephew, Jake.

Tom graduated from St. Francis Xavier, Fordham Prep High School and Fordham University. He enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1961 and was on active duty for six months; five and a half years of reserve duty.

He began his career as a financial advisor at Bache & Co. in 1962 and retired from UBS Financial Services in 2023. Among his many successes while he was with Prudential Bache, he was instrumental in 1985,1986, and 1987 in bringing three Australian Funds to the market. What he was most proud of was the fact that from 1928 through 2023 there was always a member of the Bowes family employed by a major New York Stock Exchange firm.

Among his many loves was fishing, watching all the New York sports team, and going out to dinner with his wife and friends. He was in the horse business for many years and loved to go to Saratoga every summer to enjoy the races. He especially loved spending time with his cherished wife, Terry.

Tom has requested that if you see a first responder, or a member in the military, please shake their hand or give them a hug to thank them for their service.

Since Thomas was a 9/11 survivor, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Tunnel for Towers Foundation.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit kennyfuneralhome.com.
