GOSHEN –– The Tri-Valley Bears turned in a remarkable performance at the OCIAA Cross Country Championships, showing that heart and hard work can match up against schools of any size.

The Tri-Valley Girls finished an impressive 5th overall, placing behind only three Class A schools and one Class B school—a remarkable accomplishment for a small Class D program. Leading the way was Anna Furman, who dominated the girls’ race in 17:33 to become the overall OCIAA Champion for the second time in her career. With this victory, Furman adds to an extraordinary resumé, having finished in the top three in 2022, 2023 (OCIAA Champion), and 2024, and now reclaiming the top spot. Her time ranks third all-time on the course, moving her ahead of several legendary runners (Karrie Baloga, Nicole Blood).

The Tri-Valley Boys also had a very strong showing, with several standout performances that set the stage for a rematch with Burke Catholic at the upcoming Section 9 Class D Championships. The winner will advance to the NYSPHSAA State Championships, and the Bears are gearing up for the challenge.

For the girls, the focus now shifts to winning the Section 9 title for the first time since 2013 and making a run at the program’s first state championship since 1994. Anchored by defending state champion Anna Furman, Tri-Valley enters the postseason as a clear contender.

The Bears now turn their focus to the Section 9 Championships on November 4 at the same course, Warwick - Sanfordville Elementary School.
