My daughter, Patricia’s, friend, Vickie lives in Vancouver, Washington and is staying with Patricia and me for a month. My grandson, Ryan, is lending us his car for most of that time and Vickie has become our chauffeur. Patricia asked Ryan if he was okay with how much we are using his car, and he said he is very happy that he can help us.
Vickie accompanied us to Toms River to visit my grandson, John, and his family. My granddaughter, Shauna came with us. We got to see John and Christine’s new house and also, my great-grandson, and Patricia’s grandson, Scotty, who follows John all around the house.
Christine had a funny story to tell us about she and Scotty watching the TV show – Dr. Phil every night until they fell asleep. One night she fell asleep before him and he woke her up by saying, “Phil Phil Phil.”
We also got to visit with Christine’s two older boys. Dennis had a birthday the day before. We all gave him cards with money enclosed. Kyle extended his hand and helped me up out of a chair as he did the first time I met him. I told him I would never forget that day. The boys asked about the reason why Shauna wore leg braces. As Patricia started telling them about her Myotonic Dystrophy Shauna decided to tell about it herself. She explained that it was something she was born with and that an operation corrected a problem she originally had with her feet. We left early enough so that John and Christine could attend a barbecue they were invited to later in the day.
