FALLSBURG–– The Fallsburg Comets welcomed the Liberty RedHawks in for a Volleyball match on Senior night. Pre match saw the home crowd cheer on the eight Seniors for Fallsburg. The teams had met previously in the season with Fallsburg taking the win 3-0. The Comets had a 6-9 record coming into the match, and Liberty had a 0-15 record before the match. Liberty was missing some of their key players this night as well.
Once the action got started it was all Comets in Set 1. Fallsburg got off to a fast start going up 8-0 before Liberty called a timeout. The timeout would do little to stop the Comet momentum. The Comets would take the first set 25-3 in one sided dominant fashion.
The Second set would be a more competitive match, as the RedHawks would shake off the thrashing from the first set. The Comets were led by strong play at the net by outside hitter Hannah Johnson. Fallsburg would grab a 12-7 lead in the set. Liberty would battle and hang in the set for part of it but ultimately drop the second set 25-13.
The third set started off in a similar competitive fashion to the second set. Overall, on the night, the Comets demonstrated better consistency with all around play on the court. Fallsburg excelled with passing, service, and hitting around the net. Liberty had difficulty with fundamental play on the night. The Comets would take the third set 25-15 and sweep the RedHawks 3-0 in the match.
