HURLEYVILLE — The Hurleyville Performing Arts Center is premiering two blockbuster movies in the upcoming weeks: Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will premier in Hurleyville on March 24 through April 2. Fridays and Saturdays are available at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays it is available to be seen at 2 p.m. Cost for admission is $14 for the general public and $12 for senior citizens.
In this long awaited animated feature by Nintendo and Illumination, Mario gets help from Princess Peach to square off against the all-powerful Bowser to stop his plans of conquering the world. The Super Mario Bros. Movie will premier in Hurleyville on April 7 through April 29. Fridays and Saturdays are available at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays it is available to be seen at 2 p.m. Cost for admission is $14 for the general public and $12 for senior citizens.
Along with these two movies, the Hurleyville Performing Arts Center hosted an additional movie on March 23. In this classic 1998 film, a young Cuban dancer inspires students at a Latin dance studio with his passion and spontaneity. While there, he meets and falls for a beautiful professional dancer (Vanessa Williams!), but she fights her attraction towards him in order to focus on her dancing. However, as the two grow closer, she begins to realize that brilliant technique alone will not make her the dancer she wants to be.
