LIBERTY – In 1937, pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart vanished while attempting to fly around the world with navigator Fred Noonan, sparking one of aviation’s greatest and most enduring mysteries.
Nearly a century later, archaeologist Dr. Richard Pettigrew is preparing to lead a groundbreaking expedition to Nikumaroro, a remote island in the Pacific.
The team’s focus: the “Taraia Object,” a recently identified anomaly that could be a remnant of Earhart’s Lockheed Electra. In this lecture, Dr. Pettigrew will share why this discovery is so compelling, what the expedition will do to investigate it and the challenges the field team expects to face.
Join the Liberty Library on Wednesday, July 1 at 1pm for a first look at how this journey may finally bring answers to one of history’s greatest enigmas.
The Liberty Public Library is located at 189 North Main St., Liberty.
This free event takes place in the lower level of the library and is open to all community members.
