CALLICOON – Villa Roma owner and Chairman, Sandeep Wadhwa, wants to make his new hotel as easy to get to as possible.
So earlier this week the Villa Roma, in cooperation with CoachUSA, started offering bus service from the Port Authority in New York City to the front door of the Villa Roma in Callicoon.
“Our goal is to offer an easier option to get upstate,” Jordain Almazan, Manager of Guest Experiences & Special Projects, Fay Hospitality, said.
Fay Hospitality is the parent company which owns and operates the Villa Roma.
“It’s direct to here,” Almazan, sitting behind his desk at the Villa Roma said. “It’s the same price as a normal ticket.
“[Setting up the route] is an investment in the Villa Roma,” Almazan said. “People in New York City now have an easier way to get here.”
Almazan said the bus also returns back to the Port Authority, after a brief stop in Monticello, so local residents have a way to get to the city much easier than driving to Monticello and guests can also return to the Big Apple.
The bus schedule, every day, includes leaving the Port Authority terminal in New York City at 9:30 a.m., hitting the Monticello Terminal at 11:30 a.m. and arriving at the Villa Roma at 12:05 p.m.
The bus then leaves the Villa Roma at 1:30 p.m. sharp, arriving in Monticello at 2 p.m. to pick up more passengers before arriving back at Port Authority at 4 p.m.
Ticketing is available at www.coachusa.com or on the Villa Roma website villaroma.com – with a button at the very bottom.
One-way tickets run approximately $48.60 for adults and $43.70 for seniors and children. Round trip tickets are slightly less each way.
“Now there is no excuse not to come up and visit the Catskills,” Almazan said. “We are also contacting local hotels who may want to tell their guests about the service.”
Guests from nearby hotels could take a bus to the Villa Roma and then picked up and taken to their hotel, he said.
Almazan said it might also be good for local people who need to visit a doctor in the city and come back the next day or anyone who wants to go down for a visit.
