Virginia C. “Ginny” Dexter of Kauneonga Lake, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Roscoe Regional Rehab and Residential Health Care Facility. She was 87.

The daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mildred Muthig Huggins, she was born September 2, 1937, in Liberty, NY.

Ginny worked as an insurance agent for many years for Jack Harris and later for the Ruhlen Agency. After retirement, she grew her already budding business, “GIN-NE Creations,” into a booming success. She was known for her sewing and upholstery skills. She also taught sewing at Monticello Central School District in the adult education program. Ginny was a lifelong member of the Kauneonga Lake Methodist Church, a former member of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and a former Cub Scout Den Mother. Ginny won the Homemaking Award Trip and was an acting local leader for the Silver Stars of Liberty, NY. She was active in many local 4-H clubs.

Survivors include her sons, Timothy John Dexter and his partner Rita Sheehan of Kauneonga Lake, NY; Neil Eric Dexter and his wife Excel of Jacksonville, NC; and Jeffrey Todd Dexter and his partner Jamie Januze of Kauneonga Lake, NY. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Elizabeth Joy Poley and her husband Bryan, and Matthew Louis Dexter and his wife Elli; her great-grandchildren, Ayden Sinceno, Piper Poley, Archie Poley, Tucker Poley, and one bundle of joy on the way; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Everett Dexter, on December 26, 2021.

Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Pastor Paul Minton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fosterdale Cemetery, Fosterdale, NY.
