LIBERTY — What began as a daffodil garden to commemorate the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust has since expanded its message of hope, sanctuary, compassion and community with the opening of a multi-faceted exhibit at the Liberty Museum and Arts Center.

Championed by Dr. Hope Blecher of Liberty and made possible via volunteer efforts and contributions, the project Voices of Survivors: Inspiring Hope, Sanctuary, Compassion and Community features artwork, poetry, prose, photography and more from multigenerational and multilingual perspectives. Displays include information from Armenia, to Holodomor, to survivors of the Holocaust, and the impact on various marginalized communities.

“As the curator, the opening was exceedingly well received by all who came through the doors. The evidence is in the artwork people created and the multilingual comments people shared,” Blecher said. “People from 15 through 94 said thank you for hosting and sharing a space where they could feel seen and heard.”

The exhibit will remain at the Museum until June 16, running Friday through Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m.
