here are some things today that most people can’t live without – one of those aspects is the use of the Internet.
Whether it is to simply find out the weather and temperature for the week coming up, a work-related task this is mission critical to your company’s success, to message an old friend and reconnect in real time, completing research for a school project or at the very worst of times, looking up an obituary on a newspaper website; the Internet is interwoven into our lives forever and it needs to be reliable and quick.
With its massive importance in almost everything, it should be no controversial thing to say that Sullivan County residents, even those whose homes exist deep into the remote woods, deserve reliable, fast internet. With the $29.9 million dollar broadband expansion that is eyeing the county, that is starting to look like it could someday be a reality.
Those 253 miles of fiber will be felt and appreciated. The whole new communication tower to join the league of eleven others that expand the airwaves, and it will be noticed.
Not to mention, the timeline looking at being up and operational by the end of 2026 with hopes of prices being below regional averages. While time will tell if that remains on track as promised, any upgrade as soon as possible could, at its most extreme case, save a life.
In a region that is stepping into a technologically led future alongside everywhere else in the state and the world, this isn’t just a luxury upgrade – it is a necessity. And we are hopeful that this project mirrors that.
