Will the 2020 Major League Baseball survive?

Despite owners and players finally agreeing to a deal baseball fans are somewhat not too sure.

But overall, the word of the day is “testing.”

No matter how many hours, weeks, and what feels like months and years we all spend contemplating the return of Major League baseball and just somehow can't escape that rapid and plentiful testing for COVID-19 is the critical prerequisite to any possible scenario.

If it gets started later this month the 2020 season will only last 60 games before the start of the postseason… if we get that far.

Many fans feel satisfied with a season that short but then there is reported that some 59 percent of fans don't think the league will be able to finish the season due to rising COVID-19 cases in many areas where Major League baseball teams are located.

The most troubling number is just over 50 percent of Major League baseball fans think playing the 2020 season is a good idea at all.

There are no stats and figures on a season like this.

Everything is on the table… bullpen usage, days off, sense of urgency… and it's all uncharted territory.

Big question remains is how will the players be impacted by empty ballparks?

One thing on which we can all agree…we've missed live games and amid the uncertainty and the fear and all the rest of 2020.…we are indeed positioned for a whirlwind of a season.

An interesting new aspect of these games is that all games will be played with a designated hitter.

We still have not heard the official “Play Ball” signal from the home plate umpire.

Let's hope this all works out.
