Woodridge to hold public hearing

WOODRIDGE — Last August, NYS Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law new Real Property Tax legislation. This increases the maximum allowable income for senior citizens from $29,000 to $50,000. If a Town or Village would like to change the maximum income, a local law would need to be put into place in order for it to take effect.

The Village of Woodridge Board of Trustees on March 6, unanimously voted to schedule a public hearing meeting about this legislation. “I remember with Foxcroft [Village] they were not passing the exemption down to the people, but that’s not what we’re talking about now, we’re just having a public hearing and letting the public come in and talk about it. And I think that we should do that,” explained trustee Leni Binder.  The public hearing on the matter will be held on April 3.
