Scott Mace running for Thompson Supervisor

THOMPSON — Voters in Thompson this November will have a choice of who they want to be their town supervisor. Thompson Town Councilman, Scott Mace, told the Democrat that he is running for the town supervisor position this election season.

Mace, a Republican, will be facing off against long-time Democratic Supervisor Bill Reiber Jr., who will be seeking re-election this year.

“After over 30 years as a community pharmacist and selling Rock Hill Pharmacy, I have the time to dedicate to the position,” Mace told the Democrat.

Growing up in Canton, NY, Mace moved to Rock Hill in 1994, where he started working for a Rite Aid in Monticello.

Around 2004 he opened his own independent pharmacy in Rock Hill in Cardinal Square. Mace sold his business in 2019 but can still be found working behind the counter from time to time.

A councilman for the last 10 years, Mace said he had been approached to run for other positions in the county and state, but he said, “I want to stay close to home and keep working for Thompson.”

Thompson has seen a decrease in taxes in recent years and has had large public attractions that opened up, including Resorts World Catskills Casino and the Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark.

The town is in the midst of converting its street lamps to energy-efficient LED street lamp fixtures and has recently updated the welcome signs and town signage.

Two other Thompson board members have terms ending this year, Melinda Meddaugh and John Pavese.

Mace told the Democrat, “I'm not afraid to make changes, to try new things. While we have made strides, there is still some resistance at times. The future we all face will lead to some tough decisions, some changes to be made. I would bring my experience to the position.”
