The Sullivan Catskills region is buzzing with excitement as the end of the year approaches. One of the most thrilling developments in the Sullivan Catskills is the array of new businesses and attractions that have recently opened their doors, or plan to open in 2024.

From wellness resorts to a completely renewed ski mountain, the region is undergoing a renaissance that caters to both locals and visitors seeking unique experiences. The infusion of new energy into the local scene not only enhances the charm of the area but also provides a diverse range of options for those exploring the Sullivan Catskills.

We will celebrate this and more at the upcoming annual meeting on Wednesday, December 6. It is poised to be a night of celebration for the Sullivan Catskills community. Held at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, local tourism businesses, civic leaders, and community members will come together to discuss the region’s progress and forge collaborations that will shape the future.

Our annual meeting is a celebration of the collective spirit driving positive change in the Sullivan Catskills. Attendees can look forward to dinner and drinks, networking opportunities, live music, and a ceremony honoring the 2023 Tourism Excellence Award winners.

In addition, the new Travel Guide cover image will be unveiled as well as a brand new “Catskill Land” romance map, created by local artist Rocky Pinciotti. With its vibrant colors and engaging illustrations, the map is sure to be a hit with both locals and visitors alike. So grab your copy and get ready to discover all that awaits in the gorgeous Sullivan Catskills.

We will also present the 2023 Annual Report, which shows our county’s significant uptick in tourism spending. The increase in tourism spending not only benefits local businesses but also contributes to the overall economic vitality of the region.

According to Tourism Economics, traveler spending in Sullivan County in 2022 (the most recent data available) grew 25.8 percent, an increase of 154.4 percent over 2019 spending. These figures represent staggering increases over 2021 and surpass the previous records set in 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the average Sullivan County household saved $3,370 in taxes due to state and local tax revenues generated by tourism.

We are so pleased to see these numbers and are working diligently to continue to position the Sullivan Catskills as a destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and entrepreneurial spirit.

As we close out the year, we are preparing for the 2024 Travel Guide. This invaluable resource is published both in print and online and distributed to thousands annually, featuring our lodging, restaurants, attractions, and so much more!
