ELDRED – The Yellowjackets seem excited to get sports going again, if off-season and pre-season workouts are any indication.

Eldred football made a statement in 2022, going from a rebuilding team to being one game away from a playoff berth.

The modified roster, who will be repping new jerseys this season, is filling up, with the entire program growing.

Both the boys and girls soccer teams will have new coaches this season, but will be returning veteran talent as they look to build off of last season.

The Lady Yellowjackets reached the Section IX Championship before losing to Mount Academy.

Athletic Director Amanda Zgrodek spoke highly of the student-athletes across the entire sports spectrum, and discussed some ways that Eldred would try to show off their “small town heart.”

“It’s going to be an exciting year,” Zgrodek said. “We’re installing a HUDL system, and purchasing new equipment for teams as well as branding the school and coming up with some surprises for fans at the games.”

The HUDL system will make recording games and studying film easier for teams.

Zgrodek also complimented the coaching staff for their dedication throughout the year.

“We have a great coaching staff. During off-season workouts and at every practice, all the coaches have tried to be there.”

Eldred is introducing an intramural volleyball program this year. Like many of the other schools in the county that previously did not offer volleyball, interest has grown and the numbers support exploring a new interscholastic sport for next year.

Amanda Zgrodek is also going to be introducing community service opportunities for student-athletes to help out around their community.

Eldred is gearing up for a big fall season to start the year, so be sure to get out to Eldred to support the Yellowjackets at some games this year, because they’ll be out supportuning their community too.
