NARROWSBURG – Two committees from the Upper Delaware Council (UDC) discussed the updated report on the upcoming microbrewery on Main Street in Narrowsburg – Big Eddy Brewing Co.
In a report prepared by Kerry Englehardt, P.E.,UDC Resources and Land Use Specialist, the Project Review Committee was given a rundown on the development.
Originally cited to be installed in the former Rasmussen Furniture Building (90 Main Street) just across the road, the project is now set to be developed within the former Wayne Bank building at 93 Main Street.
The space that is now leased out for the brewery is reported to be about half of the square footage that is at 90 Main St. However, the owners still plan on constructing and maintaining the originally scheduled 10-barrel brewing operation.
The recommendations from the report made by Englehardt were accepted by the committee to be moved forward to full council review in May.

Operations Committee
UDC Executive Director, Laurie Ramie, gave her update before the Operations Committee, explaining that the UDC is entering into the next fiscal quarter with the balance sitting at a little over $24,000, giving the non-profit organization a “slight cushion going into the third quarter.”
Ramie also noted that the next quarter of the SF-424 federal funding assistance begins on April 1. According to Ramie, it is used to draw down their federal funds that come through as a line item in the National Park Service Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River’s budget.
The UDC are allocated $300,000 for 2023 fiscal year under their cooperative agreement and have received $150,000 for the 1st and 2nd quarters.
As reported previously by the Democrat, the UDC predicts it will be forced to eliminate one or more full-time staff positions within six years unless they receive greater financial assistance from either Pennsylvania or New York State.
They currently have three full-time employees on staff.

Litter Sweep
Regarding the upcoming 3rd annual Upper Delaware Litter Sweep going from Earth Day (April 22) to the 30, Ramie noted that the UDC are still accepting donations through April 15, as well as accepting volunteers to pluck.
The Litter Sweep is wholly funded by donations from partners, businesses, and those who love the river corridor. The UDC provides administrative support services. Approximately 300 safety-colored t-shirts with a new logo were designed by Maggie Clauss from local company Platform Industries for volunteer team building, advertising, and purchase of litter pick-up equipment and supplies.
According to the UDC, any individual and business sponsors at any level of $50 or more who contribute by April 15 will be recognized in UDC publicity outreach and its tri-annual newsletter, “The Upper Delaware.”
Donations via credit cards may be made on the UDC website by visiting: www.paypal.com/paypalme/upperdelawarecouncil.
Checks can be mailed to: Upper Delaware Council, P.O. Box 192, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. Monetary donations may be dropped off at the 211 Bridge Street office. Please indicate that the donation is for the 2023 Litter Sweep.
Those seeking to help provide labor or services should contact Ashley Hall-Bagdonas at (845) 252-3022 or ashley@upperdelawarecouncil.org and provide the following information: Your name(s), email, and a phone number, as well as where in the river valley you would like to focus your clean-up efforts.
Participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt; supplies to use including safety equipment, bags, and pickers; and disposal information for their collected trash, according to a press release put out by the UDC.
