ROCK HILL – A man named Robert Hoagland mysteriously disappeared from Newtown, Connecticut, in 2013.

He has since been found deceased at the age of 59 in the hamlet of Rock Hill on December 5, living under the pseudonym Richard King.

According to the Town of Newtown Police Department’s Missing Person Update released on December 7, Hoagland officially went missing on July 29, 2013 after he failed to pick up a family member from the airport, as well as failing to appear for work that day.

Hoagland was last officially seen Sunday morning July 28, 2013, after he stopped at a gas station located at 11 Church Hill Road in Newtown, CT. Officers reported that they found Hoagland’s wallet, medication, and cellphone at his home where he lived with his three sons and his wife, Lori. He was 50 years old at the time.

His disappearance was highlighted in a 2016 documentary titled “Disappeared,” which aired on Investigation Discovery.

On Monday, December 5, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Newtown Police Department with information detailing possible whereabouts of Hoagland after the untimely death of an unidentified male at a residence in Rock Hill.

The male was confirmed to be Robert Hoagland, who has been living in Sullivan County since November 2013 under an assumed name. His death was determined by Sullivan County Coroner’s Office to be due to medical emergencies with no foul play detected.

Due to the nature of Hoagland’s disappearance exhibiting no criminal aspect, it was confirmed that the Newtown Police Department does not plan on releasing any further information.
