County skiers take on Bristol Mountain

CANANDAIGUA -- The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Alpine Skiing Championships took place at Bristol Mountain last week. Several county skiers took to the slopes.

The county's top performer was Monticello's Shane Bittinger. He finished fourth in the giant slalom and fifth in the slalom.

Other highlights included, the Monticello boys competed as a team at the States, taking fourth place with 77 points. Section I's Mamaroneck took the boys team title. Also, Monticello's Jessica Blakesley was the female recipient of the Section 9 Sportsmanship Award.

County's skiers' results are as follows ...

SLALOM

Boys -- 5. Shane Bittinger (Monticello) 39.43-39.49-1:18.92; 31. Ryan Weiner (Monticello) 46.59-49.31-1:35.90; 47. Austin Hartman (Tri-Valley/Fallsburg) 42.60-DNF; 53. Jack Rein (Monticello) 45.08-DNF.

Boys Basketball

Indians fall at Marlboro

The No. 8 seeded Liberty Indians's season came to an end with a 66-54 loss at top-seeded Marlboro on Saturday night in a Class B quarterfinal. Kymanni Dennis and Nasir Gibbs scored 20 and 15 points respectively for Liberty.
