He was born in Newburgh, NY on May 4, 1949 to Dale and Kathren M. Ellis.

Dale D. Ellis of Neversink, NY passed away on December 29, 2023 at home with his family by his side. He was 74 years old.

He was born in Newburgh, NY on May 4, 1949 to Dale and Kathren M. Ellis.

Dale dedicated 42.5 years of his life to Tri-Valley Central school, working in the maintenance department. Dale was an avid outdoorsman who spent his life enjoying his many interests. A lover of all things, he liked visiting boat museums, deep sea fishing and restoring his own boat. He also loved motorcycles and riding his Harley Davidson. Dale was a skilled hunter and fisherman and enjoyed time spent at his hunting lodge and salmon fishing. He loved camping and traveling with his beloved wife LouAnn. Other interests included antique tools, particularly tractors and gardening. He was a gifted musician who enjoyed playing guitar and singing for his family and was a member of a country band in his younger days. Above all, Dale was a family man who loved his family and friends. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and dear friend, who will be dearly missed, but the memories of him will always be cherished.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Louann (Haas) Ellis; his children, Connie Hemmer (Terrell) of Hendersonville, NC, Naomi Rokaw (Eric) of Hendersonville, NC, Ernie Curless (Heidi) of Grahamsville, NY, Katrina Matthews (Matt) of Manassas, VA, and Janet Calangelo of Narrowsburg, NY; Siblings, George Ellis, and Suzanne Krom; Grandchildren, Zackrey, Ian, Dillon, Dalton, Allanha, Cheyenne, Britney, Jenna, Trey, Brendon, and Adrianna; Six beloved great-grandchildren; Many loved nieces and nephews; and numerous dear friends.

He is predeceased by his dear Uncle Bill Newcomb and dear Aunt Sarah Newcomb.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Dale can be made out to either St. Jude or Hospice of Sullivan County and Orange County.

A Memorial Visitation to honor Dale will take place at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY on Saturday, January 13, 2023, from 11:00am-1:00pm.

A Graveside service to immediately follow visitation at New Prospect Cemetery, NY-52 & New Prospect Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
