David Ronald Cucci, known as AJ, passed away on October 9th, 2026, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 3, 1958, at Loomis Hospital in Liberty, New York, he was the son of Ronald J. Cucci and Norma Fredd Cucci. AJ was 68 and a longtime resident of Callicoon. He was also the devoted father to two pups, Shorty and Otto.
AJ graduated from Delaware Valley Central School in 1976. He then worked for Strick Trailers in Middletown and Laborers Union Local 17 before starting a landscaping and snowplowing business that he operated for the rest of his life. Organized, efficient, and precise, AJ took great pride in his work and built his life around a strong work ethic and a commitment to doing every job well.
He was predeceased by his father, Ronald J. Cucci.
AJ is survived by his mother, Norma Fredd Cucci; his brother, Richard W. Cucci, and Richard’s wife, Daryl; and his sister, Nancy Milk, and her husband, Telford Milk. He is also survived by four nephews – Chris Milk, Ryan Milk, Brett Cucci, and Nick Cucci – and one great-nephew, Keegan Milk, as well as multiple cousins.
AJ enjoyed hunting wild turkey, deer, and bear. Quick-witted and fun to be around, he was a live wire, a devoted dog dad, and a loving uncle. He will be deeply missed.
