MONGAUP VALLEY – The top teams were on display on Wednesday afternoon with the Bat Girls Club taking on McDowall Electric before L&B Tack faced off against Fosterdale. Despite having just eight players, instead of the typical 10, the Bat Girls Club were able to mount a late-innings rally for a 16-13 win.

Through the first two innings, neither team could gain an advantage, with the Bat Girls Club putting up two in the first and one in the second and McDowall Electric matching their score.

The Bat Girls Club added another two runs in the third to take a 5-3 lead, but McDowall plated six in the home half of the inning to take their first lead of the game at 9-5.

Trailing by four in the fourth inning, the Bat Girls Club plated two runs to bring the score to 9-7, but McDowall scored three insurance runs to increase their lead to five runs.

The Bat Girls went quietly in the fifth frame, unable to cut into the lead, but held McDowall scoreless with a 1-2-3 inning to keep the score 12-7.

The Bat Girls Club got their rally caps on in the sixth inning, scoring five runs to tie the game at 12 apiece. McDowall scored a run in the home half of the inning to retake the lead, but only a 13-12 lead heading into the final inning.

The Bat Girls came out swinging in the seventh inning, with their leadoff hitter scoring to tie the game. With two outs, the girls rallied to add an additional three runs and take their first lead since the top of the third inning.

McDowall was unable to plate any runs in the bottom half of the inning, and the shorthanded Bat Girls were able to secure the victory to improve to 12-5 on the season, just 1.5 games ahead of Charlie’s Angels who won via forfeit on Wednesday night.
