Just a reminder that next Saturday February 22nd is the “Pasta with a Purpose” spaghetti dinner event for Lenore Nizzico. The event will be held at the Eldred Town Hall from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and it is eat in or take out and there will be raffle tickets available at the door. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under five years old.

Lenore will attend the dinner and is looking forward to seeing everyone. The snow date is February 29th. I hear that there are close to thirty beautiful raffle baskets ready for the dinner. Tickets can be pre-purchased by calling Michelle Flood at 845-394-8501 and Alice Foster at 845-701-0378 or at the door. For more information contact Michelle Flood or Theresa Lilly at 845-222-4062.

The Sullivan County New York Human Rights Commission and the Callicoon Business Association will be holding a Hate Has No Home in Sullivan County vigil next Sunday February 23rd at 4:30p.m.

The Human Rights Commission is holding rallies all over the County to send a clear message that hate, racism and prejudice against any group has no place in Sullivan County. The vigil will be held at the historic Callicoon train depot and refreshments will be served after the event. For more information go to the Human Rights website or Facebook page.

I miss the Barryville Farmers Market and the community that has been built there. I went every Saturday to buy veggies, check out the “happenings” in their extraordinary garden and get my breakfast coffee from the Stickett Inn and maybe a blueberry scone from Beach Lake Bakery and then sit in one of the comfy Adirondack chairs facing the River and listen to the live music.

Without a doubt, it's the absolute best way to start your weekend. I always use my BFM heavy duty canvas cloth bag which is now also my laptop bag. They are for sale now at the Bang Bang Bar at the Inn and are a steal at $10.00. Just so you know it's only 13 Saturdays until the first Market Day of 2020 on May 23rd so get your BFM bag and get yourself ready!

The Barryville Chamber of Commerce's Winter Warm-Up Dinner and Silent Auction event will be on Saturday, March 7th from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Carriage House Restaurant on Route 97 in Barryville.

This year's honorees are Shain Fishman of the Highland Yoga and Dance Studio, Susan Smith of Floral Cottage Weddings and Events, The Barryville Farmers Market, and our local road warriors who keep us all safe in horrible weather - the members of the Town of Highland's Highway Roads Department. The featured speaker is Dan Paradiso, a graduate of Eldred Junior Senior High School, who is now the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark.

The tickets for Winter Warm Up event are $50. And all the proceeds go to the Chamber's Scholarship Program that has awarded over $31,000 in scholarships to our local graduates. The Winter Warm-Up dinner always sells out quickly and the seating is limited. To buy tickets in advance and learn more about the event go to barryvilleny.com.
