I enjoyed the Elementary Holiday Concert at the Sullivan West High School on the 19th. The elementary band and choir were both amazing! So many young and talented children! I did not get to the other Concerts and Recitals held during this holiday season but being active on Facebook, I have enjoyed the posts and  know we have  many students that are gifted and work hard to accomplish dance, music, and many other skills. Keep up the good work!

I ran errands last week, finally finishing up my holiday shopping! First to the “North Branch Cider Mill” to pick up some last-minute ornaments, candy, and other things I “needed”. If you are looking for a gift for someone that is difficult to buy for, why not a gift basket? They start at $20 and are available through the holidays. Next, I visited the “Gardner & Co General Store” located just 2 miles from Callicoon- 131 County Route 121 in Hortonville. When you walk in to Cindy’s store you feel like you have gone back in time! Beautifully set up and decorated like an old country store with so many gift choices designed by local artisans, soaps, jewelry, books, towels, and much more…Holiday hours: Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. I found some great items for a gift basket I was putting together for Christmas for a close friend. Next, back to Main Street Jeffersonville to visit with Randy at “R52 Home” in the rear of the “Sullivan Sundries” building where I purchased some ornaments and two great books about local hauntings – for myself. A long day but shopping locally and supporting “our” businesses made me feel good.

Beginning Friday, the 29th and all Fridays during the skiing season, the Villa Roma Ski Chalet has night skiing for the Sullivan West Central District families! They plan on having all 3 of their slopes open this season. The Sullivan West Elementary PTSO invites the Bulldog nation to come out and enjoy some fun! FMI: email ptso@swcsd.org

The Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering “Fiber Arts for All” on January 19th. Fiber Arts for All (FAFA) is a space for safe learning, sharing and collaboration, welcoming people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and perspectives. Bring your projects to work on! Youth must attend with parent or adult mentor. FAFA meets 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Extension building (located at 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road, Liberty) on the 3rd Friday, monthly. For more information contact bjm292@cornell.edu or krl55@cornell.edu.

I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year!
