Liberty Elks spread holiday cheer

LIBERTY — On Saturday, December 3,  Liberty Elks Lodge 1545 hosted their Annual Christmas Holiday Event with 300 attending the event including 190 community children.

This annual endeavor provides community kids with a gift from Santa, lunch for the whole family, a photo with Santa, gift bags with snacks and gloves and hats for those in need. The day was a tremendous success because of the support of people who understand the strength of community. The event was made possible by the donations of Elk members, monetary donations from the IOOB 583 and the Catskill Bastarettes, the goods provided by Pepsico/Frito Lay and Eddie & Son Distribution, local Student Volunteers Grace Hernandez, Tanner Ferguson, Charlyanna Johnson and Lilly Black.

The Santa photos were masterfully managed by Liberty High School’s Mrs. Johansen volunteered with photo students Ximena Gomez and Zandy Valencia taking over 100 photos of families, with a smile and patience to no end.

As always, Ernie Feasel and Maureen Crescitelli skillfully performed the roles of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
