Military promotions

To the editor:

We have in the current US Senate a former Collegiate coach who has taken upon himself to hold up the promotions of over three hundred Military promotions. This ex-coach has the audacity to, by himself, jeopardize the national security of the United States to further his political agenda.

What I would like to know is what part of our great Constitution gives one man the power to block these promotions?  He has disagreed with some of the finest Military minds regarding the harm this can do to our National Security. When told of the increased workload this could cause many of our Military leaders, he chuckled and said, “General Milley will have to put in overtime.” This is a man without any Military training as far as I can ascertain.

Now, I don’t know how the US Senate works or how it came up with this procedure that gives this kind of power to one individual, but it certainly needs looking into.  I’m sure that this was not the intentions of our Founding Fathers when they wrote this document.

How in the world our founding fathers would ever agree that one man, A COLLEGE FOOTBALL COACH, could ever have the power to put our national security in jeopardy.  If the US Senate made up the rule that allows this, what were they thinking?

I can’t believe that the taxpayers pay our elected officials a good salary, with many benefits we all dream of, and they continue to bicker and point fingers at each other instead of doing the job we sent them to do. Now, we have a senator standing up and challenging a witness to a fight.  This senator, from what I hear was a professional fighter in the past. Thankfully, a senior senator had the sense to intervene.

There are so many things going on that threatens our Democracy that it would take a book to cover them all.

God bless America.
