To the editor:
It’s always heartening to read about people helping injured birds (“Double raptor rescue,” Sept. 3). It’s even more thrilling when the bird in question is a rarity.
Since spotted owls only occur out West, I imagine Jonathon Walraven actually rescued a (admittedly very similar) barred owl, which is common in our region.
At night I often hear its deep hooting “Who cooks for you, who cooks for you-awlll?” call.
