Peter S. Stetka went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, August 28, 2023.

Pete was born in Callicoon, NY to Steve and Alice (Martin) Stetka. He was raised in Cochecton Center and graduated from the Narrowsburg Central High School in 1964.

Pete served in the Army Reserves, worked for a time at Roark’s Tavern in Monticello, NY, then made a career in the trucking industry for 33 years.

Later in his life, he married the love of his life Suzanne and, after he retired from ABF, they traveled together around the U.S., Ireland, and Europe. They laughed together, shared many interests, and enjoyed each other’s company until the day of his passing.

Pete will be remembered for his warm smile which he shared with all who passed his way. He was quick-witted and ready with a joke anytime he had a willing audience. His kindness, generosity, and good-neighbor attitude made those around him feel appreciated and loved.

Peter is survived by his wife of almost 17 years, Suzanne (Luning Reed). He is also survived by family members: a son, Bill Stetka and wife, Kelly of Westminster, Colorado; daughter, Stasia and husband, Brice Steele of Brighton, Colorado; sister, June Linhart of Raleigh, NC, his nephew Steven, niece Mary Alice and grandchildren: Billy, Wyatt, Jesse, Brice, and Madeline.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene (210 Katrina Falls Road in Rock Hill, NY 12775). Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a memorial starting at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Henry A. Umnik Class of 1963 Scholarship Fund”, c/o Sharon Reitmeyer, PO Box 326, Lake Huntington, NY 12752: a merit scholarship for students of the Sullivan West Central School.

Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello NY; for additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com.
