LAKE HUNTINGTON — The Lady Bulldogs ended the opening week of their season with back-to-back wins that featured brilliant shooting from beyond the arc. After defeating Monticello 61-31 on the road Thursday night, they returned home to take on Livingston Manor on Friday night.

In the Thursday night game, Nicole Reeves netted seven 3-pointers and accrued a game-high 22 points, with Abby Parucki adding 19 of her own. Monticello’s Isabella Velasquez and Amiah Neails each had eight points for Monticello.

Friday night’s game couldn’t have started any better for Sullivan West, with a dominant press keeping Livingston Manor off the board until the final minute of the first quarter. Sullivan West built up an 18-2 lead in the frame.

In the second quarter the Lady Wildcats were able to make some adjustments and score 10 points, but the Sullivan West shooters were on and they netted 20 more points to extend their lead to 26 by halftime.

Nicole Reeves dominated in the first half, netting six treys and putting up 18 of her game-high 26 before the break.

After the half, the Lady Bulldogs were able to back off of their press, and Livingston Manor took advantage, winning the third quarter 10-8 but still trailing by 24 going into the final frame.

Reeves added two additional treys in the fourth quarter as SW was able to extend the lead up to 30 as they won 56-26.

“Tonight was fast,” Lady Wildcats Coach Maggi Fitzpatrick said. “I was happy with our ability to adjust throughout the game and solve some of the problems. Sullivan West is a great team, very cohesive and aggressive.”

“None of the girls are gun shy, they’re all looking to shoot the ball,” Sullivan West Coach Pat Donovan noted. “We shot the ball well and played good defense.”
