Richard D. Foster of Mongaup Valley, a retired Town of Bethel Highway Department Foreman, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown.  He passed two days before his 85th birthday.

The son of the late Daniel Foster and Marjorie Bleiler Foster, he was born June 20, 1938 in Monticello, New York.

Later on he really enjoyed his part-time work at the Bethel Transfer Station, where he knew practically everyone. His presence surely will be missed in the Community. He served his country in The United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Carole Schwenz Foster,

Daughter Deborah Foster, Grandchildren, Scott Akers, Christina Jackson (John), Danielle Akers and Brandon DeForge. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Emilee, Leana, Lukas, Tally, Ariona and Isaiah, his sister Trudy and brother-in-law Barton Hindley, beloved niece Dina and nephew Dan Sturm, as well as Many nephews, nieces, cousins and sister-in-law(second wife) Linda Reeves.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by: His daughter, Lorraine Sloan, brother Gary Foster and his cat Freckles.

Following cremation, private interment of his ashes will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
